Cep24 lamp, the perfect fusion between the form and the function
Functionalism and understated elegance, the Bauhaus style moves into our interiors with ease! Superbly inspired by the WG24 model from Wagenfeld, emblematic creation of this artistic movement born in the aftermath of the First World War, our Cep24 lamp will convince you with its design in line with the original. Handcrafted like the authentic version, it has a graceful line linked in particular to its cylindrical chromed metal stem, supported by a thin circular base itself lightly worn by metal half-spheres. Made of opalescent glass, the mushroom-shaped lampshade diffuses a soft and non-dazzling light, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere in the room. Original detail, the lighting of Cep24 lamp is made by a small switch zipper with a retro look and a bit outdated, which will not fail to bring fun and charm you. With its minimalist and functional design that is 100% timeless, our ilfurn® version of the WG24 will fit perfectly into any private spaces, easily going from the living room to the dining room, or from the office to the bedroom.
A few words about Wilhelm Wagenfeld and his WG24 lamp
An emblematic student of the Bauhaus School, Wilhelm Wagenfeld designed the WG24 lamp with Carl Jucker in 1924, as part of the examination of a master craftsman goldsmith-carver that he won easily. The lamp is extremely popular. Dubbed the "Bauhaus lamp", it quickly becomes a worldwide symbol of the very innovative spirit of this German school, which combines clean aesthetics, functionalism and advanced materials to create standardised objects compatible with a mass production. The goal? To merge the visual arts, applied arts and industry so that art can integrate everyday life and meet the evolving needs of society. The WG24 lamp is completely in keeping with this functional and minimalist philosophy of the Bauhaus: extremely simple with its opaline rounded lampshade, cylindrical leg and circular glass or metal base, it reflects Wagenfeld's desire to produce goods "cheap enough for the modest and beautiful enough to please the rich". One of the most famous luminaries of the Bauhaus era, the WG24 was awarded the German Federal Award "Gute Form" in 1982.Product details
