A few words about Christian Dell and his Kaiser Idell table lamp.

Created in 1931 by German silversmith and designer Christian Dell, the Kaiser Idell table lamp is a pure Bauhaus creation. Not surprising since Christian Dell was one of the key figures in this post-war school of art, design and revolutionary architecture, as the supervisor of the metal workshop in the 1920s. The Kaiser Idell is both practical and functional, reflecting all the expertise of its creator in metalworking, as well as its propensity for humour: "idell" is indeed an association of the designer's name and the word "idea" in German. Originally manufactured by lighting company Gebrüder Kaiser, since 2010 the Kaiser Idell table lamp has been produced by the Scandinavian firm Fritz Hansen. Now regarded as an icon of classical design in the 1930s, its success really became palpable in the 1960s when it appeared in the German TV series "Der Kommissar". A mediatisation that earned it its nickname "commissioner's lamp".
